Turbo was purchased by the Colorado Springs Pioneer Museum for an upcoming exhibit in May 2024 featuring Colorado Women Artists. After the exhibit it will be on permanent display!
“Turbo” is a playful, yet elegant mixed media assemblage. The heart of the artwork is an antique ladies high heel shoe mold, jazzed up with large vintage baby buggy wheels and a small antique wood wheel in front, giving the piece an exaggerated sense of movement and making the bunny truly “Turbo” charged! I added the number “3” to the top of the shoe and the word “Turbo” on the heel like a race car.
Leaping a top of the shoe mold is a white metal rabbit figurine that I had to do extensive repairs on and repaint to match the original vintage look. He is attached to an antique clock spring case. It’s a playful mix of the whimsical and the mechanical, designed to make you think. Maybe to slow down a bit and smell the roses?
